About Us
Icarus Badminton Club is a long-established badminton club based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. We welcome players from across the local area, including Letchworth, Stevenage, Baldock, and surrounding towns.
With over 30 active members, we offer a friendly and sociable space for adults to enjoy weekly badminton sessions and take part in local league play. Our club is best suited to lower-intermediate level players and above, helping to keep games competitive and enjoyable for everyone.
History and Founding
Icarus Badminton Club has been part of the Hitchin badminton community since 1977, with a history spanning over four decades.
The club was originally known as BAe Aramis, and in the 1990s merged with the British Aerospace Club to become Icarus. Since 1998, we’ve played at Hitchin Boys’ School Sports Centre, which remains our home today.
Over the years, we’ve taken part in several local leagues, including those in Stevenage, Letchworth, and Biggleswade, proudly representing Hitchin badminton in competitive play.
