Welcome to the members area — your hub for key club information, admin, and updates.

Onboarding

Once you’ve successfully completed your trial sessions, we’ll send you a welcome email with details of your initial payment, which includes:

A pro-rata membership fee (based on how far into the term you’re joining)
A one-off Badminton England registration fee (if applicable)

As an affiliated club, we’re required to register all members with Badminton England, which provides third-party liability insurance — this is mandatory for participation.

We’ll need the following information to complete your registration: Full name, Date of birth and Full address.

If you already have Badminton England membership via another club, or manage it yourself, just let us know. We’ll still need your BE membership number so we can add you to our club’s register.

Your BE membership renews annually and is included in your club subscription going forward.

Subscription details

Membership is paid quarterly, with each term costing £46. This covers all club nights within that period.

If you join partway through a term, you’ll only be charged for the remaining sessions on a pro-rata basis.

WhatsApp Group

We use WhatsApp to keep in touch, share updates, and organise matches. Join our main club group to stay informed about weekly sessions, announcements, and socials. We also run dedicated groups for:

League Teams — for match planning and updates
Snap Sessions — occasional extra games, usually on Fridays

Bank Details

All payments — including membership fees and match fees — should be made by bank transfer to the club account.

Account details will be provided to you via email once your membership is confirmed.

Match fees

Members who play in league matches are asked to contribute a £4 fee per match, whether home or away.

These fees help cover the additional costs of court time and match-quality shuttles. Payments are collected at the end of the season, and a summary will be shared by your team captain or the treasurer.

Our constitution sets out how the club is run — including rules around membership, behaviour, governance, and finances. It’s a useful reference for understanding your role and rights as a member of Icarus Badminton Club.

Code of conduct

The code of conduct provided is mandatory. All players and officials of Icarus Badminton Club must comply with the code of conduct. Anyone found to be in breach of the club’s code of conduct may be suspended, or in some cases expelled from the club.

All members must:

Be a good sport.
Play fairly.
Have good behaviour on and off court.
Treat all other players fairly and equitably.
Accept victory and defeat respectfully.
Respect officials, team captains and their decisions.
Exemplify teamwork, and cooperate with players, coaches, and supporters.

Have a calm and controlled temper.
Recognise and appreciate good play in opponents as well as in your own club members/team/partner.
Encourage and support other players without criticism.
Acknowledge and thank officials and opponents.
Play by Badminton England rules of play and accept any official decisions.
Use correct and proper language.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

We hold an AGM every year to share club updates, review finances, and elect committee members. It’s your opportunity to help shape the direction of the club and have your voice heard.

Receipts, invoices, and financial records are stored in a shared OneDrive folder. If you’d like access, please speak to the Treasurer.
